Hike the Graveyard Fields Loop to waterfalls, views on the Graveyard Ridge Trail, and fields of wildflowers and wild blueberries on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Located at Milepost 418.8 along the Blue Ridge Parkway, Graveyard is a spectacular high elevation valley lying in the shadow of nearby Black Balsam and Tennent Mountains. Go back to the Pisgah Inn on milepost 408 on the Parkway. Graveyard Fields is a place Ive been to dozens of times, primarily in the off-season when the area isnt buried under a blanket of visitors. Towards the end of the trail to the upper falls, hiking gets a little difficult because of boulders on the trail. Maps of the Graveyard Fields Area Several maps are available of this popular section of the Pisgah National Forest. Spend some time on the lower falls and the upper falls and take pleasure from the vistas, delight in the fresh air, luxuriate in the present moment and relish the views. Hiking direction: It is a well-traveled trail you will meet hikers from all over the continent. After about 24 miles on the parkway you see the Graveyard Fields on Milepost 419. After 3 miles enter the Blue Ridge Parkway and go south. Take I-26 West to exit 37 (Skyland), go left (west) on 146 west and after about 1.5 miles turn north on 191. Admire the wonders of the Blue Ridge Mountains.ĭriving direction: Follow 64 to Hendersonville.
